Truckee, CA
The history of Truckee starts during the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad. Many of the laborers who came to work on this historic achievement remained, choosing to make a living in the town. Lumber, ranching, ice harvesting, all were pursued during the earliest years of the town’s history.
Truckee now hosts a strong tourist trade and the local population to support it. Especially in the last 20 years, Truckee has become a focal point for locals, with a more reasonable cost of real estate. Incorporated in 1993, the town has it’s own police, government, and services departments, all designed with preserving and enhancing the history and future of Truckee.
